Where would i put commas and quotation marks in this sentence?
Q. Where would i put commas and quotation marks in this sentence? Hey, Nick I asked how's army life? I'll bet it's easy to get dates I continued especially when you wear your uniform.

A. "Hey Nick," I asked. "How's Army life?" "I'll bet it's easy to get dates," I continued. "Especially when you wear your uniform." Commas are designed to signal short pauses. You wouldn't say "Hey, Nick." It is much more natural to say "Hey Nick," without a pause. Army should have a capital A. Don't forget the apostrophe in "How's." Dialogue doesn't have to follow the rules of grammar. People use sentence fragments in speech a lot. Thus, "Especially when you wear your uniform" is acceptable. Read things aloud to help you with commas and other punctuation marks. A comma indicates a shorter pause than a period.
